Grand River - Great City

Established during the mid 1800’s, La Crosse is steeped in history and rests directly on the banks of the Mississippi River. Strategically located for tourism, business and industry, the Greater La Crosse Area serves as the center of the tri-state area: Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa. La Crosse is linked to the Upper Midwest by Interstate 90, Amtrak, several air carriers and the Mississippi River Navigational System. More than two million people live within 150 miles of La Crosse. This area is often called “God’s Country” due to its towering bluffs, the mighty river and picturesque beauty. In the heart of the city is Historic Downtown La Crosse which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
