Come to Explore...Stay and Enjoy
They say you can't go home again. "They" haven't been to Waupaca. Ancient glaciers left their imprints on the Waupaca countryside, leaving sand plains, rolling hills, deep ravines, swiftly-flowing rivers and many kettle lakes. The landscape consists of wooded areas and trout streams, intermixed with agricultural lands. More years ago than anyone knows, long before the time of Wisconsin's woodland Indians, Native American mound builders roamed the Waupaca area. Trees sprouted from the mounds and grew large, but one mound, shaped like a catfish, can be seen easily today.
Since the early days of settlement, visitors have traveled to Waupaca to enjoy our area's many lakes, sparkling rivers, gorgeous scenery and small-town atmosphere. Stay for a bit to explore what our unique and lovely area has to offer; a chain of 22 sparkling, spring-fed lakes, Crystal River canoe trips, a number of local golf courses, hiking, biking and snowmobile trails, campgrounds, the National Ice Age Trail, rental cottages; fine and casual dining, and a charming gift shop just around the corner.
