Milwaukee County

Anytime is a perfect time to visit Milwaukee County. Dine at a colorful, riverside bistro. Enjoy a leisurely boat cruise in the scenic Milwaukee harbor. Stroll along the RiverWalk, a lovely pedestrian promenade connecting the city of Milwaukee’s waterfront neighborhoods. Whether a novice or scratch golfer, you’ll find a golf course that suits you to a tee. Tennis courts are located throughout the county, and some are lit for night play. Whether you like swimming laps throughout the year or enjoy a refreshing dip in the middle of summer, there’s a pool in the parks system waiting for you.

Miller Park has many unique features, the main one being its retractable roof. The 12,000 ton, seven panel roof has a unique fan shape design. The roof can open or close in ten minutes and sits 175 feet above the field. The Milwaukee Brewers played their first game at the ballpark on April 6, 2001. A Brewers Hall of Fame, children’s area, brew pub, open air patios, and walkways are throughout Miller Park. Concourses on the field level allow fans to see the game while walking around the ballpark. A huge video board is above the hitters backdrop in centerfield. Manual scoreboards located on both the left and right field walls keep fans notified of scores of other MLB games. Outside Miller Park are statues of Milwaukee icons, such as Hank Aaron.

The Milwaukee County Zoo is a serene home to more than 2,000 mammals, birds, fish, amphibians and reptiles with more than 350 species represented. However, the Zoo has become more than that to visitors. It is a site for workshops, holiday celebrations, summer concerts and food festivals. Recognized as one of the country’s finest zoological attractions, the Milwaukee County Zoo serves as a resource to educate, entertain and inspire.

Indoor Ice Skating at the Wilson Ice Arena. The Recreation Center building houses the indoor Ice Arena, where you can skate year-round. It has 17,000 square feet of groomed ice, seating for 2,000, team locker rooms with showers, a concession area, and rental figure skates in a full range of sizes. For more great winter fun, bring your family and friends to speed down the toboggan run at Whitnall Park’s Winter Sports Area! Many of the parks that have lagoons for ice-skating provide special practice areas for hockey players. Free Outdoor Ice Skating is available December-February at the refrigerated rink, Slice of Ice in Red Arrow Park, and at special park locations when weather and ice conditions permit. There’s sure to be a location near you.
