 Germantown’s rolling meadows provide scenic beauty and recreational challenge. Golfers have a half dozen excellent Germantown golf courses in and around Germantown and another dozen within a half-hour drive in the metropolitan Milwaukee area. A favorite course of both residents and visitors alike is Zimmermann’s Kettle Hills 45 hole course. Kettle Hills uses the natural kettle moraine landscape of Washington County to provide challenging and beautiful play. The course is located just 2 miles west of Germantown in Richfield on Holy Hill Road.
 From spring to fall, bicyclers enjoy the historic sights in the fresh air throughout Germantown’s suburban and rural countryside. Enjoyable rides include touring the historic "Silo Mile" in Germantown’s rural north or visiting the remaining buildings in any one of the 7 historic hamlet precursor communities that make up the modern village of today. Biking in the scenic Kettle Moraine countryside near Holy Hill is both a challenge and a delight due to the moraine, drumlin and esker hills and kettle valleys. From Germantown, hiking visitors are also only five miles from the Ice Age Trail, one of only seven designated National Scenic Trails in the United States.
 In the heart of Washington County’s Kettle Moraine, and only miles from Germantown Wisconsin is Pike Lake State Park. It offers camping, hiking, biking, fishing, canoeing, boating and swimming opportunities. The park provides groomed cross country ski trails each winter and is open for ice fishing. The Northern Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest lies a little further from Germantown, but also offers extensive hiking and campground facilities in northern Washington County.
