In The Middle Of It All

Escape to a quiet place just 6 miles from Wisconsin Dells! Lyndon Station is in the middle of great campgrounds, state parks, fisheries and friendly restaurants; it’s a little gem that offers a bit of everything. Nearby are Castle Rock and Petenwell Lakes. Castle Rock Lake is the fourth largest inland lake in Wisconsin and offers plenty of fishing, camping and boating. Petenwell Lake is the second largest inland lake in Wisconsin. The lake is 23,000+ acres over a 36 square mile area. Its maximum depth is over 40′ and is well-known for its excellent fishing and waterfowling. American eagles winter at the dam and can be observed daily during the season.

Rocky Arbor State Park is a quiet and secluded escape amongst pines and sandstone bluffs. A 225-acre park within two miles of Wisconsin Dells, Rocky Arbor’s 89 wooded campsites offer seclusion, while its pine trees and sandstone bluffs offer a cool escape to the picnicker or the hiker. Spending too much time indoors got you down? No problem, Rocky Arbor is a great place to go, and provides a quick getaway to some nice nature trails, just 5 minutes south of Lyndon Station.

Nearby Elroy, once a prominent railroad center, is now the hub of three beautiful bike trails. Most well known is the “granddaddy of all trails”, the Elroy-Sparta State Trail. It was the first official rails to trails conversion in the United States. Thirty-two miles in length, the abandoned Chicago & Northwestern Railroad bed passes through the trail’s most unique features of three tunnels, dug by hand in the 1870s. It joins at Elroy with the 400 Trail and the Omaha Trail(also having a tunnel).

With a tradition of logging, railroad, farming and Native American culture, the Lyndon Station area has much to offer. Photographers and artists flock to Lyndon Station for the scenic beauty of the area. Hike or bicycle the nature trails, or bring your golf clubs and enjoy the numerous public golf courses. Boat, canoe and kayak rentals allow you to travel the waterways to see the rich, fall colors around the water. You’ll wish you could stay longer.
