Rusk County

Over three hundred miles of snowmobile trails cover Rusk County. The County trail forms a hub of the extensive Northwest Wisconsin Trail Network, and there’s a complete trail map available at the Ladysmith Visitor Center. There are also our many hiking and biking opportunities. Christie Mountain, located high in the Blue Hills, offers an endless scenic view as well as skiing for every level of skiing preference and ability, and the highest vertical run in the north. Numerous groomed cross country ski trails can also be found throughout the area for any level of ability.

The Ladysmith area has long been thought of as the Midwest mecca for the canoeing enthusiast. From the whitewater adventure of the Flambeau to the gentle ride and pristine beauty of the Chippewa, a canoe excursion can be found for all in the Rusk County area. Canoe and kayak rentals and shuttles can be obtained at the confluence of the Chippewa and Flambeau Rivers, along with other fishing and float trips down either river. The rivers, streams, and lakes are great for the first timer or the expert fisherman.
