Wisconsin Downhill Skiing! Winter opens the skiing season at our many excellent regional ski resorts. A large percentage of the Wisconsin population is literally within an hour's travel time of quality skiing and snowboarding action. The first significant snowfall of the skiing season usually arrives in the north in November, and the majority of resorts are able to open in the month of December.
