 How best to spend your time in Spring Green? That is a question with many possible answers! Visit the American Players Theatre - world class Shakespearean theatre in a natural amphitheatre; the home and school of Frank Lloyd Wright, recognized as the world's greatest architect by the International Architecture Society; the incomparable House on the Rock; a Robert Trent Jones Sr. Golf Course; exceptional galleries and artists' studios; plenty of specialty shopping and antiques; scenic hiking, biking and equestrian trails at nearby county and state parks; cross-country skiing; canoe trips on the Wisconsin River; and summer concerts by a variety of local and international groups. Spring Green is also an easy drive from the ever-popular Wisconsin Dells, historical Mineral Point, the Caves at Blue Mounds, the Mississippi River and much more.
 The Spring Green area was settled by Welsh, English, Norwegian and German immigrants. Early industries were dairy and produce farms, lumbering and cheese making. Newcomers have included many artists and craftspeople, producing a wealth of rustic furniture, pottery, jewelry, handmade paper, and other decorative arts. From early spring bird watching and wildflowers, June's Annual Art Fair, the vibrant colors of fall and the Fall Art Tour, through the charm and nostalgia of our Spring Green Country Christmas® celebration, the Spring Green area is a vacationer's delight.  From the last dam at Prairie du Sac to its confluence with the Mississippi River at Prairie du Chien, the Wisconsin River free-flows a total of 92.3 miles. Peck's Landing and your toes are at mile 30 of that flow. So let your toes pull the rest of you in. And enjoy swimming, canoeing, fishing, camping and wildlife watching. (But please use caution: this river hasn't forgotten its wildness!) Because the wetlands of the Lower Wisconsin floodplain are still largely intact, they are becoming more important as this type of habitat disappears elsewhere. The Riverway is home to more than 45 species of mammals and nearly 300 bird species, including 23 different waterfowl. River otters, beaver, mink, muskrat, raccoon, and many other mammals thrive here, sharing the lush bottomlands with bald eagles, herons, sandhill cranes, pileated woodpeckers, woodcock, and osprey.
 Further "inland" and among the bluffs and woodlands the quiet observer may encounter ruffed grouse, wild turkey, white-tailed deer, and even an occasional badger or bobcat. The prairie remnants, in addition to presenting a brilliant three-season display of wildflowers (please do not pick), provide cover and nesting for bob-white, blue-winged teal, bobolinks, and other birds.
