Kick-off the holiday season with the city's annual Lighted Holiday Parade. Santa lights the giant Christmas tree; free cookies and hot chocolate. Downtown. Event starts at 6:00PM. For more information call (608) 742-6242.

Mar 7 - Mar 7 Portage - The Midwest Open 2009.
The Midwest Open is the largest freestyle skiing and snowboarding competition in the Midwest. It attracts 200 competitors from all over the country, and even Canada. There have been competitors from as far away as California participating. This is the premier freestyle skiing and snowboarding competition in the Midwest, with Hip, Big Air and Rail Jam events taking place. Over $16,000 dollars in prizes are given away each year! Registration is open to the public, but is capped at 200 competitors. Spectators are free, unless they would like to ski or snowboard. Cascade Mountain Ski Resort.
