 The Nekoosa Area, located in Central Wisconsin has much to offer--from shopping to a variety of services to industries to recreational! The City of Nekoosa is a small residential community with a strong sense of place. What began as a fur trapping and trading community, the community's prime location on the Wisconsin River soon led to other industries. For more than a quarter-century, thousands of anglers from around the Midwest have participated in the annual Nekoosa Walleye Days, an event that has inspired many to come back year after year. Riverside Park, a striking spacious site near Nekoosa's business quarter is home to several large events including Walleye Days in the spring and the Giant Pumpkin Festival in the fall.
 Nekoosa's Giant Pumpkin Fest draws thousands of people from all over the midwest each year to enjoy a day of shopping, sightseeing, food, fun and family entertainment. Events include a GPC sanctioned Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off. Pumpkins can tip the scales from between 400 to 1,100 lbs. Giant Squash, Long Gourd,Tomato,Cantaloupe and Watermelon weigh off competitions are also held. Other activities include hundreds of crafts, flea market, farmers market, professional pumkin carver, antique tractors, kids games, car show and much more. Nearing the end of the day they celebrate the event with a traditional "Giant Pumpkin Drop."
 The Cata-Pumpkin Launch is held in conjunction with the Giant Pumpkin Fest. The public is welcome to come and see pumpkins weighing 8-10 pounds launched into the air. Cata-Pumpkin Launch is sponsored by Rainbow Casino with all benefits from the event going to the Nekoosa Giant Pumpkin Fest and the Nekoosa Fire Department. New also will be the air cannon division where machines use compressed air to launch the pumpkins.
 The Nekoosa Area is the all-season playground if you love the outdoors. Any time of year, visitors can take advantage of all that Central Wisconsin has to offer, in addition to the area's parks, majestic woodlands, marshes and more. Our unique location at the center of several wildlife areas allows bird watchers to travel between different habitats and viewing areas with ease. Wandering past fields and farms, creeks and clouds, waterfowl and other wonders, the local highways and roads reveal some of the best fall color you'll ever see.
