 Sandy beaches, quaint shops, cozy cottages, and some of the county's most scenic shoreline parks combine to make the Jacksonport area a don't-miss part of the full Door County experience. Two of the great parks in Door County are located just a few miles south of Jacksonport. From Highway 57, take County WD east to Lake Michigan and the side-by-side entrances to Cave Point Park and Whitefish Dunes State Park. At Cave Point, stand on the Rocky Bluff and watch Lake Michigan carve sea caves beneath your feet.
 Whitefish Dunes has more than a mile of sandy beaches, the highest sand dunes in Wisconsin, and 14 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and skiing. The 6,600-foot beach at Whitefish Dunes is considered by many to be the best in Wisconsin featuring a rugged Lake Michigan shoreline and 93-foot protected sand dunes, highest in the state. This Door County park is a combination of beautiful Lake Michigan shoreline, an inland lake, winding creek within surrounding wetlands, and dense upland forest comprised of maple, beech and hemlock. So rich and diverse is the plant life, the area has been designated a state natural area. In winter, it showcases beautiful ice formations with frigid Lake Michigan waves in the background.
 Jacksonport is a small town with a big appetite for fun. The county's festival season starts here on January 1st when a large crowd gathers at Lakeside Park to watch hundreds of human Polar Bears take an icy dash into Lake Michigan. Lakeside Park offers a great beach with picnic facilities, restrooms, and children's play areas. Just north of town, Meridian Park lies exactly halfway between the equator and the North Pole. Schauer Park, just south of town, hosts a popular boat ramp.
 On Memorial Day weekend, Maifest kicks off summer with a parade, softball tournament, music, horse-pulling contest, arts, crafts, a fun run, food booths, a parade and lots of family fun out at Lakeside Park. . Then in early August, the annual Cherry Fest celebrates the abundant harvest of the county's delicious red berries.
