With an abundance of snowfall annually it seems as if the snowmobiles out-number the cars. Eagle River boasts some of the best snowmobiling in the world. The numerous area snowmobile clubs groom and maintain a 500 mile trail network that is known as the “Eagle River 500”, which wind through beautiful forests and across frozen lakes. You’ll find a well-groomed trail network, breathtaking scenery and some of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet, right here in our Northern Wisconsin communities.

Eagle River is the heart of Northwoods fishing. Our lakes are known for their trophy-sized musky, but you ‘re also bound to catch walleye and bass. When the leaves begin to turn and the fall foliage is brilliant, it is an excellent time to catch musky. So whether you boat out onto one of our beautiful lakes, panfish with the kids, or fly fish for trout in the streams, Eagle River is a world class fishing destination. If you haven’t been fishing for years and don’t know the best spots like the back of your hand, there are expert guides who will help you lure in the big ones and provide lessons for a lifetime.

We can honestly say that there is no place on earth with as much variety of fishing opportunities in freshwater fishing. With literally hundreds of lakes of all sizes, and miles and miles of trout streams, plus the fishing in the Wisconsin River, you could fish every day of the open water season and never hit the same water twice. We have great fishing for trout, musky walleye, smallmouth & largemouth bass, northerns and all types of panfish. You can catch most of these species within the city limits of Eagle River.

Musky fishing is spectacular, with people travelling from all over the world to fish these great gamefish. The action starts on the Memorial Day weekend – and there is good fishing for them right from the start. Our variety of musky waters run from the Wisconsin and Eagle Rivers to lakes running from 50 to 4,000 acres. We also have a great variety of dark and clear water lakes for all weather conditions.

Each winter, volunteers headed by the area firefighters put in more than 700 “man hours” to cut nearly 3000 12-inch-thick ice blocks from a local lake, haul them to downtown Eagle River, Wisconsin, and build a huge ice palace. Eagle River’s Ice Palace has become a popular attraction for motorists, snowmobilers, locals and visitors, as dozens of people stop by each day to photograph the 20-foot high structure along Highway 45 North.

We hope to see you soon in Eagle River, where “Great Times come with the Territory”
