 Burlington has a couple of unique claims to fame. We are known around the world (some say the universe), as the home of the Burlington Liars Club. The club, receiving tall tales from as far away as New Zealand and China, meets on New Year's Eve to select a championship lie for the year.The Spinning Top Museum is located on highway 36. What a great idea to experience the tops and games of your childhood. With interactive toys as well as tours of the tops from around the world this museum is a "Can't miss" for the Burlington area.
 Secondly, Burlington has gained a reputation and a name as Chocolate City, USA. In 1986, Wisconsin governor Tommy Thompson and the Wisconsin state legislature officially designated Burlington as such, in honor of the Nestle Chocolate and Confection Company's 10-year anniversary in our city. Since that time, Burlington has celebrated America's favorite flavor with a three-day ChocolateFest each year in May. Music, children's activities, a Chocolate Parade and of course, CHOCOLATE! ChocolateFest is a wonderful family activity as well as an event in which the entire community participates.
 The Modine Benstead Observatory includes two domes observatories as part of the facility. The main building includes the 16 inch telescope, an observation deck, library and meeting room. The smaller domed building houses our 14 inch telescope. Great Lakes Dragaway features drag racing, jet propelled drag racing, funny cars, and more from April through November. Visit Old World Wisconsin, an outdoor living history museum featuring 50 restored 19th century buildings. Besides the museum tours, there are special events including sheep shearing, children’s day, plowing and planting, and Christmas activities.
 Although Burlington continues to grow, it maintains its small town charm. Increased interest in the historic significance of the city's buildings has led to efforts to preserve it. The process to have the area designated a historic district has begun. While the area struggles with its growing pains, it continues to look to its past for answers, recognizing the value of its history as it plans for the future.
