 Bicyclists will appreciate the Boulder Junction area’s extensive trail offerings. Some of the best mountain bike rides in all the Northwoods can be found in Boulder Junction. Don’t miss the Lumberjack Trail, Nichol’s Beach Trail, or Crystal Lake Trail, all part of the excellent Boulder Junction Area Trail System. Much of the Boulder Junction Trail system is paved and available to touring bicyclists, as well as a network of hundreds of miles of quiet country roads with spectacular woodland scenery and unbelievable waterscapes.
 Snowmobilers, cross-country skiers, snowshoers, shoppers, ice fishermen and people just looking to relax will love winter in Boulder Junction. Located amid 240,000 acres of state forests, Boulder Junction has no shortage of places to play, whatever your winter pastime might be. Ride along 130 miles of well-groomed snowmobile trails and explore a nearly endless variety of cross country skiing trails. The trails are connected to hundreds of miles of Vilas County trails, and thousands of miles of Northern Wisconsin trails. It's no accident that our area continually wins awards for best snowmobile destination. It is also worth noting that Boulder Junction lies far enough north that we are well inside the U.P. snow-belt. We often receive lake effect snow that communities to our south do not receive.
