Olbrich Gardens – Flower and Model Train Show

Twinkling lights, festive poinsettias, tiny landscapes, and large-scale model trains: all aboard for Olbrich’s Holiday Express! Using large-scale model trains, Olbrich’s horticulture staff will showcase miniature landscapes among 800 colorful poinsettias. During Olbrich’s Holiday Express, members of the Wisconsin Garden Railway Society come from all over the state to show off their large-scale model trains. Also, stop by Olbrich’s lobby and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee in the Tea Room. 10AM to 4PM daily.

Horsedrawn Sleigh Rides at Woodside Ranch in Mauston

Winter Wonderland Sleigh Rides. Every Saturday & Sunday 2PM, 3PM & 4PM. Enjoy an old-fashioned, horse-drawn sleigh or hay ride every Friday and Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. After the ride, enjoy hot chocolate and a visit with Santa Claus in the Trading Post. Santa will pose for pictures! Ride through the countryside of the beautiful Lemonwier Valley on horse drawn sleighs or wagons. Reservations are required. Rides on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. 25th Annual Red Light Snowmobile Rally in Hurley

December 14-17, 2006 Hurley
Located in Wisconsin's Northwoods, the city of Hurley kicks off the snowmobile season with the official 'first ride of the season' during the Red Light Rally. Traditionally held the second full weekend of December, the 25th Annual Red Light Rally has been moved one week back due to an extended gun-deer hunting season. The rally will feature such activities as live music, feeds and lots of "reunion-type" fun! Festivities include trail rides on more than 450 miles of groomed trails in the area, a poker run, snow dances, a kick-off party and a downtown snowmobile parade.

Ho-Ho-Ho! Santa makes a special trip to visit little boys and girls to hear their many wishes for Christmas. Dress warm for the train ride in open cars but there is plenty of hot chocolate and cookies to keep you warm. The R&GN is an operating 15" gauge railroad and makes a round trip almost 3 miles through scenic canyons, beautiful wooded areas, and majestic rock cuts. At the final stop at the Hyde Park depot you can watch as the locomotive is again turned in preparation for the next trip, after taking on water at the water tower. N115 County Road N.

A variety of family and children's activities will be scheduled throughout the event. Nightly carriage rides through the park complement the experience. Here is a chance to see the Kickapoo Valley wrapped in wintry blankets, and enjoy the twisty little river when it wears icicles. Delicious food will keep spirits high while visitors participate in demonstrations of dog sledding, Malamute dog sled races, cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, sleigh rides, a chili contest, ice formation hikes, children's games, ice skating, sleigh rides and ice sculptures.
