Midwest's Largest Car Show. The theme for 2006 is "Chevrolet Cars and Trucks." 2,500 show cars. The Swap Meet area now has 4,460 spaces, loaded with automotive related items. The Swap Meet area is open four days starting Thursday. Over one thousand old cars will be available for sale, ICA car auction. (July 6 is a setup day - spectators are welcome). Iola Old Car Show Grounds. Event starts at 6:00AM.

July 15 Baraboo A Special Evening on the Prairie
Hike with expert naturalists to learn about prairie soils, flowers, birds, mammals, reptiles, and restoration techniques. These non-strenuous hikes begin at 4PM and last 45 minutes. The captivating film, "America's Lost Landscape; the Tallgrass Prairie" will be shown at 4, 5, and 6PM in the Visitor Center. Meet the cranes of the world and learn about our native Sandhill and Whooping Cranes. Food and beverage concessions (served from 5-7:30PM) and shopping in our nature-themed gift shop. Also a musical program by Mr. Douglas Hill, composer and conductor, at 7:00PM in the Whooping Crane Exhibit. Mr. Hill and Oakwood Chamber Players will perform three movements celebrating chapters of Aldo Leopold's classic "A Sand County Almanac." Regular admission prices apply.

Birchwood Bluegill Festival

July 14 - 16 Birchwood
The Bluegill Festival is an annual event sponsored by the Birchwood Lions Club. Have down-home fun when the village of Birchwood celebrates every 3rd weekend in July. There's a parade, a town potluck dinner, logging demonstrations, and a Bluegill Festival Queen contest. The whole family will love to watch the Fireman's Water Fight, where firefighters from neighboring communities battle it out with their high-pressure hoses. Call for schedule of events.

Featuring the "Baraboo-Dells American Barnstorming Tour", this event will include static display and rides in vintage aircraft from the 1920s, '30s, and '40s. Daily aerobatic performers and airshow flight line seating. Vintage, Warbird and classic military aircraft displays, vintage bi-plane and helicopter rides. Skydiving demonstrations, food, beverages, airshow concessions, aviation art and community service display booths. Vintage cars and cycles. Family and kids' activities. EAA AirVenture 2006 - World's Greatest Aviation Celebration

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2006 promises to once again live up to its billing as The World's Greatest Aviation Celebration. The awe-inspiring B1-B Lancer bomber will arrive on opening day of AirVenture Oshkosh. Additionally, this year features a one-of-a-kind reunion of the Allied Forces' big bombers - including B-17, B-24, B-25, and British Lancaster aircraft - all performing fly-overs and fly-bys with stunning pyrotechnics. And some of today's most awe-inspiring military aircraft - including the B-1B, C-17, F-16, FA-18, and A-10 - will also roar overhead.
