Explore Mayville
Enjoy biking, hiking, and cross country skiing in many area parks, on the Wings over Wisconsin property, and in the teeming wetlands of the Horicon Marsh. The nearby Wild Goose State Trail is a multi-use resource, running from south of Juneau to Fond du Lac. Our city welcomes the public to a beautifully groomed Golf Course and our new Fitness & Aquatics Center. Summer events include the July 4th Fireworks and the July Canoe Regatta, along with the Music on the River concert program throughout the summer.
Spring and fall bring massive migrations of waterfowl, with nearly 500,000 birds stopping at Horicon Marsh to feed and rest on their way to warmer climates. During the summer, many species of birds remain in the marsh to breed and raise their young; heron, egrets and other shorebirds can be seen stalking the margins of the cattails. Every corner of the marsh is home to some bird or animal. Even during the winter, when the wind howls and the landscape is blanketed in white, hawks soar over the frozen marsh and otters and muskrats swim under the ice.
The four-day Audubon Day Festival is a special annual celebration of fun, food, spirits and entertainment, taking place during the first weekend in October. Some of the festivities include the Taste of Our Town food tent, comedy show, nature events, beer tasting, a car and motorcycle show, bed races on Main street, live bands, the Audubon Classic Run/Walk, the Marsh Area Bike Tour, dog jumping competition, a sheepshead tournament, Art & Craft Gallery, and lots of other activities for both kids and adults.
