At nearby Governor Nelson State Park, located on 10,000-acres along Lake Mendota, recreation and nature mingle within sight of the State Capitol. Trails and restored prairie and savanna beckon nature enthusiasts, and effigy mounds can be seen on the Woodland Trail.
