Explore Park Falls
For the canoeist, from the city of Park Falls to the Big Falls Dam, the North Fork and a short stretch of the main branch of the Flambeau River offer a good combination of Class 1 and 2 rapids and long stretches of flat water. It’s the perfect mix for novice and intermediate whitewater canoeists, who mostly focus on the scenic and rough-and-tuble stretches of the North Fork. Some canoeists start as far north as the Turtle Flambeau Flowage and run more than a hundred miles to Beaver Dam Rapids. People from all over the United States have traveled the Flambeau and acclaimed it as one of this nation’s finest canoeing rivers.
