Songa | Great Hall Concert Series
Singer/Songwriters Mario and Sherry Friedel will take you on a journey with their unique instrumental sound and vocal blend. Their newly released recording, “Dreams Are in the Making,” includes songs about love, life, loss, resilience and hope. Multi-instrumentalists, these artists will take you from folk to country to blues to Latin jazz and back again. Rooted in the Nashville songwriting tradition, you won’t want to miss their honest lyrics and pure vocal harmonies. This will be an evening to remember.
Mario, a recording artist with Universal Records, has shared the stage with musical greats like John Hiatt, Jimmy Buffet, Neil Diamond, the Allman Brothers, Dr. John, Don Kloetzke, Nashville songwriter Keith Duke, blues artist Howard Guitar Luedke, and jazz artists Janet Planet and Tom Washatka.
Sherry is a performer, vocal music educator, church music director, and co-producer of children’s recordings Cancionetas and Wisconsin Integrated Student Creations, Volumes 1 and 2. Mario and Sherry’s cd The Gift is a collection of original Christian songs released in 2004.
In Wisconsin, Songa performs frequently at wineries, breweries, distilleries and coffee houses, as well as festivals and fine arts series events.
