Black Bears in Wisconsin – Living Alongside the Northwood’s Largest Carnivore
April 25, 2026 1:00 pm
Minocqua Winter Park’s Wildlife Series Program is back!
Join us at the Chalet for a look at black bears and learn more about these icons of the forest. Bears are abundant across the Northwoods and regularly share space with people who both live and play across the region. This talk will provide an ecological overview of bears in our state along with some real-world advice on how to live responsibly with bears and keep bears wild!
Randy Johnson is the large carnivore specialist for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and leads the DNR’s statewide bear, wolf and cougar management programs.
Weather permitting, stick around after the presentation and take a short hike (approx. 15 minutes) to visit our new Tower House at the top of Squirrel Hill. Stay tuned for more Wildlife Series events this summer and fall to be held at the Tower House with spectacular views!
This is a free event. Donations welcome. Registration encouraged as space is limited.
