
Jill Makovec - 60th Alice in Dairyland
Jill Makovec is serving as the 60th Alice in Dairyland. She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Madison, where she earned her master's degree in Dairy Science for her research and focus on milk quality. She also earned her bachelor's degree in Dairy Science and Agricultural Journalism.
Jill grew up in Muscoda on her family's dairy farm, Lazy M Acres, which consists of 60 milking registered Holsteins and Brown Swiss, and covers 600 acres.
Prior to becoming Wisconsin’s Agricultural Ambassador, Jill was the Manager of Education and Information for AgSource Cooperative. In addition, Jill served as the 2002 Wisconsin Fairest of the Fair and she promotes agriculture through involvement with Cows on the Concourse, Association of Women in Agriculture and Wisconsin Fairest of Fairs committee.
During her year as ‘Alice,’ Jill hopes to bridge the rural and urban gap in communication by spreading the message that agriculture impacts every Wisconsinite. After completing her year as ‘Alice,’ Jill plans to return to her family farm and continue the legacy of agriculture and their century farm.
With a long history of media appeal dating back to 1948, Alice in Dairyland is an impressive professional effective in educating the public about all aspects of Wisconsin’s agricultural industry.
