The leaves are falling, so take your whole family on an Autumn color cruise! An excellent fall color car tour is the Upper Mississippi River Valley, where tall limestone and sandstone bluffs are painted with amber, yellow, golden and orange hues - Nature's finest natural beauty. This is a gorgeous drive with the river on one side of the road and the wooded bluffs on the other. Explore nearly 250 miles of the Wisconsin west border amidst over 30 picturesque river towns, parks, wilderness areas and historical storefronts. Watch the the barges and riverboats pass through at observation decks at Lock and Dam 4 at Alma, which is open from dawn until dusk from April to November. The Mississippi River is also a main corridor for migrating birds. Beginning in Dickeyville in the south at the junction of US 61 and US 151, you can follow Wisconsin's Great River Road along the western edge of the state up the Mississippi River all the way to Prescott.
