Pepin County, WisconsinPepin County is located at the gateway to the Indianhead Country in charming northwestern Wisconsin. Because Pepin County is tucked in along the confluence of Chippewa and Mississippi Rivers and bordered by 22 mile long Lake Pepin, the year-round scenic views spoil all who choose to visit or live in the area. In addition to the breathtaking blufftop scenery, Pepin County has endless recreational opportunities and a vast array of wildlife. The rivers, streams, and lakes provide mile upon mile of canoeing, kayaking and boating possibilities. On top of the water recreation, more than 50,000 acres of public land are available for hunting!

Laura Ingalls Wilder DaysLaura Ingalls Wilder was born in the hills above Pepin in 1867. Her book Little House in the Big Woods was set in Pepin of the 1870's; this and the series of "Little House" books that followed became - and remain - classics that have been translated into more than forty languages. The "Laura Ingalls Wilder Days Festival" celebrates the life and times of this "pioneer" author. The festival includes demonstrations of traditional crafts such as blacksmithing, woodworking, hand-spinning and quilting, an art & craft market and food sales. Other activities include: pioneer games & activities for children, and guided bus tours to Laura's birth site.
