Westby

Old Traditions ~ New Opportunities

Westby is named after general store owner and Civil War Union soldier Ole T. Westby of Vestby, Norway, from whence many of its original Norwegian-American settlers emigrated. Located on the ridge between the Mississippi River’s Coulee Region and the Kickapoo River Valley, the Westby area contains 200+ miles of idyllic trout streams, as well as oppourtunities for hiking, biking, golfing, canoeing, kayaking, horseback riding, camping, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, hunting and ice fishing. Nearby is Wild Cat Mountain State Park with spectacular scenery, camping, horseback riding and cross country skiing. At the Kickapoo Valley Reserve you can enjoy mountain biking, birding, fishing, canoeing and much more.
