  • Nov 15 - Jan 18 Wausau - Illusions in Art for Young Eyess. 55 works by Maryland trompe l'oeil painter Eric Conklin reveal the wonders of illusion seen in the traditional style of Dutch artists. Today, using a perspective box, conical mirrors, anamorphic cylinders, and the mathematical rhythm of the Golden Mean, Conklin creates paintings that fool the eye and create wonderful "Aha" moments for all ages.   • Jan 8 - Jan 8 Wausau - 3 Redneck Tenors. Ya’ll come on in and join Billy Bob, Billy Joe, and Billy Billee. Down-home laughs meet big city music! From the tunes of Elvis, to Country, to Opera, you'll travel with our three singing cousins from their trailer park beginnings in Paris, Texas, all the way to their triumphant debut at New York's famous Carnegie Hall.   • Jan 17 - Jan 17 Wausau - Men Who Cook. Some of Wausau’s finest male cooks will share their culinary talents at the seventh annual Men Who Cook event. Each of the 24 tables (of eight) will be hosted by a celebrity chef and each will prepare and serve his specialty. The evening will also feature music, tasty desserts, and silent and live auctions.   • Jan 24 - Jan 25 Wausau - Wausau 525 Snowmobile Championship. Spirited spectators and top competitors alike can be a part of the fast-paced snowmobile action at the Wausau 525 Snowmobile Championship.   • Jan 24 - Mar 29 Wausau - Quilt National. Quilters around the world vie to be selected for the Quilt National, organized biennially by The Dairy Barn, Athens, Ohio. The eighty-five examples from the 2007 competition demonstrate that time-honored traditions are thriving and being expressed in new forms as today’s artists rise to meet the challenges of new techniques and materials.   • Feb 2 - Feb 2 Wausau - National Acrobats of China. Gorgeous costumes, contortionism and a complete disregard for danger add up to an evening of thrills and excitement the entire family will enjoy.   • Feb 19 - Feb 19 Wausau - Opera á la Carte: The Mikado. W.S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan were the most popular playwriting team of Victorian England, with Sullivan's lively tunes providing an irresistible setting for Gilbert's barbed wit.   • Feb 21 - Feb 21 Wausau - Ice Tee Classic. 14th annual fundraiser for the Neighbor's Place.   • Feb 21 - Feb 21 Wausau - Snowshoe Hike. Enjoy a hike along trails at Rib Mountain State Park. Refreshments and rentals available. Hike will be canceled if temperature is colder than -4F or wind chill is colder than -30F. There is no participation fee but a state park sticker is required.   • Feb 21 - Feb 22 Wausau - Mardi Gras Festival. Can you say Cajun?? Conditions at the Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory are anything but peaceful, as sparks fly between new superintendent Sid Sorokin and Babe Williams, leader of the union grievance committee. This labor management dispute explodes into a hysterical battle of the sexes. Bright and brassy, this fast-paced Broadway favorite is brimming with songs that have become musical theatre standards (“Hey There,” “Steam Heat” and “Hernando’s Hideaway”), and plenty of splashy, fun production numbers.
