The Yellow River in north central Wisconsin, a Chippewa River tributary, is one of four distinct rivers in the state bearing the name Yellow River. This Yellow River begins in Kitric Swamp near Perkinstown, Wisconsin, in Chequamegon National Forest. The river runs a short way before it forms two reservoirs, the Chequamegon Waters Flowage and the Miller Dam Flowage, separated by an isthmus. Below Miller Dam, there is one more dam, at Cadott, forming another small reservoir, before the river joins the Chippewa River when it flows into Lake Wissota at Moon Bay.

More than 300 lakes in Chippewa County will keep you busy searching for that exclusive musky or basking in a bay on a lazy summer afternoon. Riverview Park offers a wide variety of recreational activities including 3 sand volleyball courts, 2 softball diamonds and a basketball court. There are three pavilions and electricity is available. In June and July a life guard is on duty during afternoons and early evenings. Bathrooms are open in summer only. Summer fun also includes Whispering Pines Golf Course as well as the Yellowstone Trail.

Lake Wissota State Park is 9 miles West of Cadott, and has 1,062 acres of primarily young, rich forests and open prairie on a 6,300-acre manmade lake. It attracts hikers, campers, recreational boaters and anglers after walleyes, muskies, bass, panfish, northern, catfish, and sturgeon. The park offers secluded campsites and a 285-foot swimming beach. Enjoy, unwind, and savor a quiet country setting with the best of both worlds; hike the woodland paths or try snowshoeing in the winter seclusion only minutes from downtown Cadott.

Cadott is also the home of the Chippewa Valley Music Festivals. The festivals offer national headlining acts and tons of fun!
