| North America's largest and most prestigious X-C ski marathon. 8,000 skiers of all ages, genders and nationalities participate in the 51K Birkebeiner, the 23K Kortelopet, the children's Barnebirkie, Junior Birkie, Elite Sprints, Family Fun Ski and Citizen Sprints. The 2010 Childrens' Barnebirkie will start behind the Hayward Primary School and finish on Main Street. | Individuals or groups are invited to plunge into the "cool" waters of Half Moon Lake and compete for prizes such as best individual plunge, best individual plunge wear, best group wear and theme, and fastest plunger. Concessions provided by Hardees - one free hot chocolate per plunger! Finally, warm up at Chuck’s on Clairemont (two blocks west of the plunge site) and receive your free beverage (if you are 21 or over), bid on items for their silent auction, and watch the rest of the plunge on their tv. Saturday, March 27th from noon - 6PM and Sunday, March 28th from 10AM - 4PM. You are the judge! Awards will be presented at 3:15 PM on Sunday (Voting ends at 2PM). Admission to this event is free.
