State competition for snowshoeing, cross country skiing, alpine skiing, speed skating, snowboarding and more. Like the Olympics, there is a community party, including an Opening Festival at which thousands of spectators witness the ritual of the Athlete Parade, the torch lighting, and a closing fireworks display.
