Fall Activities All Around!

Now that we've changed the clock for the season here in Wisconsin, it is time for us to take advantage of the extra morning daylight! That first cup of coffee and early morning walk takes on an extra edge as the crisp Fall weather moves in on us day to day. November and December bring wonderful family holiday get-togethers and the memories they leave with us all.

How long can you go? How many can you say in less than 10 seconds? Classic & modern phrases twist the tongues of everyone. Appropriate prizes, like a portion of "a peck of pickled peppers," "a toy boat", a "yellow yo-yo" and "sea shells you can sell." Laughter and fun promised for all! The contest has age divisions for peer fun, and even a foreign language division! Door prizes for everyone (audience & contestants!) and another prize for the contest winners! 10th Annual Main Street Holiday Parade

Whatever you do, don't miss this great Fall event - Marshfield's 10th annual Holiday Parade! Bring your camera for some great pictures. This year the theme will be a Parade of Lights. Every float and entry will have lots and lots of lights, Christmas music and be appealing to children and adults. After the parade join the crowd at the Holiday Inn Convention Center for a visit with Santa, plus entertainment and refreshments, too. Parade begins at 6:30PM at 2nd and Central Ave.and goes to 14th and Central Ave.Park.

Wisconsin Bats: Where, When and How to Spot Them

It's easy to fill the void with myths, urban legends and superstition. Heidi Hughes never gave bats a thought - except in the fall around Halloween. But she had a healthy fear of them - even though she'd never actually seen one up-close and personal. When she finally did, everything changed. Annual Brian Setzer Orchestra Christmas Rocks!

Extravaganza! Brian Setzer is back on the road in 2009 to get your holidays rockin' like no one else can. Widely credited as single-handedly resurrecting two forgotten genres of music (rockabilly in the 80s and swing in the 90s), Setzer has created what is undoubtedly the most exciting annual rockin' Christmas event on the planet. The Los Angeles Times calls it a show "whose sheer joy is irresistible!" The BSO often plays the Rockefeller Center tree lighting ceremony. The former Stray Cats leader and his big-band orchestra have dates lined up in 25 cities during the final two months of the year. Grand Theater on Artsblock, 415 4th Street. Event starts at 7:30PM.
