October 17th & 18th, 2009 Wisconsin Dells
A celebration of Fall in "The Waterpark Capital of the World!" Events featured include: arts & crafts marketplace, farmers' market, straw dig, scarecrow stuffing, pumpkin decorating, kid's craft corner, petting zoo, hayrides, pony rides, caricatures and face painting. Celebrate autumn and all of its glorious colors! Festival includes Wisconsin Dells On Tap, featuring more than 25 Breweries from around Wisconsin (Saturday, October 17 from Noon - 5PM). The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

Just in time for Halloween we are visited by the scholarly Ichabod Crane, the brawny Brom Bones, the lovely Katrina Van Tassel, the residents of Tarry Town and the Headless Horseman, as they create the story made famous by the legend. This autumnal classic is faithful to the original story written by Washington Irving in 1819 and will thrill and chill without being too scary. No fall is complete without The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Bring the family for a thrilling afternoon with the characters of Tarry Town! UW-Whitewater's Young Auditorium, 930 W Main Street. Starts at 3:00PM.

BayCross Cyclocross Racing - "Ballet on Mud!"

October 17th & 18th, 2009 Ashland
Cyclocross was developed in Europe in the early 1900’s as a way for road racers to remain fit during fall and winter. It is unique in that courses include obstacles that force riders to dismount and run while carrying their bikes. Baycross features different classes: junior (ages 6-12), junior (ages 13-18), beginners, recreational women, recreational men, open women, open men. Sat: Course will be a mixture of gravel, grass, trails and roads through the woods. Free potluck after the race. Sun: Course- grass, pavement, sand and rock overlooking beautiful Chequamegon Bay. Cash and merchandise prizes. Registration 10AM-12:30PM. Bayview Park.

OFY adapts Donizetti's charming opera "The Elixir of Love" to a town in the American Old West, making this performance a colorful and enjoyable treat for the whole family. General admission. Lap sitters age 3 and under are free. One of the acoustic and architectural treasures of the midwest, the Stoughton Opera House first opened it's doors in 1901! Halloween Candlelight Cave Tour

Halloween Cave Tour

Family-oriented evening to visit Ledge View's trails and caves by candlelight and meet some unusual personalities with strange stories. The tour is educational rather than scary, with the focus on education, not fright. Minimum recommended age is 5 years old with parent. Wear old clothes: you may get dirty. Caves are accessed by stairs and ladders. Tours will depart every half hour. No reservations taken. The event is a fundraiser. Ledge View Nature Center, W2348 Short Road. Event starts at 6:00PM and ends at 8:30PM.

5th Annual Hunting Moon Pow Wow

October 23rd thru 25th, 2009 Milwaukee
Celebrate Native American culture and traditions at this annual Pow-Wow sponsored by the Forest County Potawatomi. A pow wow session begins with the Grand Entry, during which all the dancers line up by dance style and age. This competition Pow Wow will feature Native American dancers and drums. Exhibitors will sell Native American jewelry, crafts, and ethnic foods. Fri doors open 3PM; Sat & Sun doors open 10AM. Held at Potawatomi Bingo Casino, located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Free admission. Parking is free for all participants and guests.
