Gays Mills Spring Festival |

May 9th & 10th, 2009 Gays Mills
Spring Festival often coincides with the blooming of the apple blossoms on thousands of orchard trees that surround the small community. The Ridge and Valley rodeo will also be held featuring bull riding, barrel racing, saddle bronc riding, and team roping. Tour one of Wisconsin's prime apple growing areas and enjoy a flea market, food stands, and the annual Festival of Folk Music and Dance. A square dance is scheduled for Friday at 7PM; open stage workshops will run on Saturday; and an evening concert featuring traditional Irish music and a West African music and dance group will begin at 7:30PM on Saturday. Annual Horicon Marsh Bird Festival |

May 8th thru 11th, 2009 Horicon
The Festval will focus on introducing visitors to many of these birds at the peak of the spring migration. This vast wetland is both a State Wildlife Area and a National Wildlife Refuge. Over the years, a total of 268 species of birds have been sighted on this marsh. Includes guided bird hikes, bird banding demonstration, pontoon boat birding adventures, birding for kids, Night sounds bus tour, Twilight Birding by boat and more. Reservations required for some events. So pack up your binoculars and join in. Horicon Marsh is truly for the birds! N7725 Highway 28.

Journeys Marathon in Eagle River |

May 9th, 2009 Eagle River
Scenic point-to-point road race, USAT&F-certified 26.2-mile, 13.1-mile Power Walk and 5K races. Music and food. Marathon starts at 8AM, half marathon & power walk at 9:15AM, and 5K at 10AM. Finishers receive custom-printed Journeys Marathon moisture wicking T-shirts and die-cast medals. The Kids Fun Run is for ages 12 and under - the kids run laps for prizes. Water and snack bags will be provided. Kids can participated anytime between 10AM - 1PM on race day. Health & fitness expo Friday night at Northland Pines High School, 5-9PM. Wisconsin State Polka Festival |

Thirteen big bands featuring Dutchmen, Polish, Czech, Slovenian, and German style polka music. Many of these bands have been inducted into the Wisconsin Polka Hall of Fame. Bunny Berigan Jazz Jubilee |

May 16th & 17th, 2009 Fox Lake
The best Dixieland Jazz and Big Band Swing music in the nation will happen this weekend. The music begins on Friday at 4PM when a FREE concert, sponsored by “Moose” Mullin, Mayor of Fox Lake, takes place in the lawn of Mullin’s Drive-In. Jazz musicians from all over Illinois and Wisconsin, plus guest artists Bob Schulz and Bob Hirsch from California will converge on Fox Lake for a weekend of uplifting, fun loving music. There will be wagon rides around the community on Saturday morning, showing the childhood sites of Bunny's life. Also enjoy delicious food, a CD-Music Store, dance floors at both venues and special souvenirs.

Morel Mushroom Festival in Muscoda |

Fungus amoung us! The festival honors the tasty mushroom - enjoy it fried, or you can purchase some to take home and enjoy later. Friday: tractor pull, bean bag tournament, Poker Crawl & outdoor dance with live music. Saturday night offers a fireman's annual steak feed followed by fireworks along the Wisconsin River, bus tours of the Ho-Chunk Nation Bison Farm, live music & free throw championship. Sunday parade at 2PM. Also includes a craft fair, flea market, custom car show, helicopter rides, carnival and much more. Sat 9AM-4PM, Sun 10AM-4PM. Various locations.
