Perkinstown Snowshoe Race

Perkinstown Snowshoe Race

January 17th, 2009 near Medford
A one-day winter adventure that's nestled in the hills of northcentral Wisconsin. Fun for snowshoers of all abilities. Held at the Perkinstown Winter Sports Area, hundreds of runners and walkers will snowshoe along scenic trails that twist their way through the Chequamegon National Forest. And, a warning for kids: Be on the lookout for their 7-foot mascot, Perky the Porcupine. That big old critter is always good for a few laughs. Make it a point to be part of the 4th annual Perkinstown Snowshoe Race. Registration begins at 9AM; races start at 11AM.

Bald Eagle Watching Days at Prairie du Sacu Chien

Each year, dozens of eagles winter at Prairie du Sac to fish the open waters of the Wisconsin River. Get "eye-to-eye" with eagles at Prairie du Sac, an exceptional location to view these majestic birds. The churning action at the base of the local dam keeps ice from forming on the surface of the water during winter, and this exposes the fish to hungry eagles. Enjoy Birds of Prey shows, guided bus tours, wildlife photography seminar, Native American legends, aerial antics, and family activities. Special program Friday Evening, January 16th at the River Arts Center-Sauk Prairie High School, 105 Ninth Street.

Annual Shades of Blue Tattoo Show

The finest tattoo artists in the Midwest will gather for this annual show and services event. Artistic displays and Tattoo Competitions, body piercing, and tattoos done during the show. Wausau 525 Snowmobile Championship

Spirited spectators and top competitors alike can be a part of the fast-paced snowmobile action at the Wausau 525 Snowmobile Championship. The 525 is a WSA sanctioned extreme ice oval snowmobile race to honor the memory of Philip Flip Merwin. The proceeds from the event will go towards "Flip's Fund", used for scholarships and to help children with critical illness. It's the area's must see snowmobile event of the season! New this year - sleigh rides and other family activities. Heated viewing and concession areas. Sunny Vale Park, 1000 S 72nd Avenue.

Cassville - Bald Eagle Days

January 24th & 25th, 2009 Cassville
100-250 bald eagles winter at Cassville each year. Knowledgeable volunteers assist visitors with locating eagles at outdoor observation deck at Riverside Park. Outdoor staffed viewing 8AM-noon Saturday & Sunday. Educational programs at Cassville High School on Saturday from 9AM to 3PM. Art Shegonnee, Native American Dancer, will perform at 1PM. Raptor Resource Project/American Eagle Documentary: this 11AM presentation will include the documentary, American Eagle, shown on PBS. It features raptor expert, Bob Anderson as narrator. Riverside Park Observatory, 100 W Amelia St.
