January 1st thru March 15th, 2009 Ashland
Ice races on Lake Superior's Chequamegon Bay. Beginning in January, Car Ice Racing will take place every Sunday at 12PM until 3PM (ice conditions permitting), on Lake Superior and Chequamegon Bay ice near Maslowski Beach in Ashland. This annual event in Ashland is fun to watch and even more fun to be in! Cars race around a groomed track right on the ice off the shoreline. The races usually run from mid-January to mid-March, depending on the ice conditions. Although Lake Superior seldom freezes over, Mother Nature provides ample ice on Chequamegon Bay.

The 11th Annual Ice Cold Beer Fest features choices of the top Midwest microbreweries offering samples of their finest brews to raise money for the Lakeland Hospice in Woodruff. Over 20 breweries will take part in this year's event. A one-day winter adventure that's nestled in the hills of northcentral Wisconsin. Fun for snowshoers of all abilities. Held at the Perkinstown Winter Sports Area, hundreds of runners and walkers will snowshoe along scenic trails that twist their way through the Chequamegon National Forest. And, a warning for kids: Be on the lookout for their 7-foot mascot, Perky the Porcupine. That big old critter is always good for a few laughs. Make it a point to be part of the 4th annual Perkinstown Snowshoe Race. Registration begins at 9AM; races start at 11AM.

Each year, dozens of eagles winter at Prairie du Sac to fish the open waters of the Wisconsin River.
