One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest AT UW-Richland |

Andrew Sharp, who has previously directed several UW-Richland Theatre productions, is directing this stage adaptation by Dale Wasserman of the bestselling 1962 novel by Ken Kesey. A 1975 film by the same title was based on the novel. Set in an asylum, the play looks at mental health/mental illness and the culture of such institutions. Authority, control and power are among the themes, as is the healing power of laughter. The story centers on the relationship between patient Randle McMurphy, a rebel, and Nurse Ratched, who rules the ward.

Dirty Dog Dryland Derby |

October 25th & 26th, 2008 Antigo
Dryland events are the fastest growing segment of dog-powered sports. They are environmentally low impact family oriented activities with trained sled dogs. This is the third year for the Derby, and the site for the race is the Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Boy Scout Camp’s wide grass covered trails near Pearson, WI. Catagories: Canicross, Jr. Canicross, 1-dog bikejor, Junior wheeled, 2-dog bikejor, 1 to 2-dog scooter & 6-dog Rig. 1.5 & 2.7 mile courses. In 2007 the DDDD was the largest dryland event in North America. Races start at 9AM. Free admission and plenty of parking. West 6500 Spring Lake Road, Pearson, WI.

Pleasant Prairie - Munchkin Masquerade |

Little ghouls and goblins are invited to the Jelly Belly Center for an exciting afternoon of Halloween fun. Our tour route will be decorated for nice family fun. Clowns, Magic and Goodie Bags for the Kids, games, prizes, and entertainment for all ages. It's a shame to only wear your awesome Halloween costume one day a year, so come extend the fun and join the Munchkin Masquerade Parade! Masquerade Parade starts at 10AM & ends at 10:30AM. Activities from 1PM to 4PM. Jelly Belly Center, 10100 Jelly Belly Lane, Pleasant Prairie, WI.

Medford Harvest Days |

October 31st thru Nov 2nd, 2008 Medford
There will be a 5k/10k Run/Walk & Children's Dash, Harvest Days Hike, Chili Feed(Chili in a bread bowl - featuring the winning recipe from last year’s cook-off ), Pumpkin Craft and Friendly Feud. Build your own scarecrow contest on Saturday and enjoy the Crazy Cranberry Cook off and the Battle of the Bands. A craft show under the tent and dance will be held downtown along with the Annual Harvest Days parade. Parade will begin at 2:00 p.m. and follow a route through downtown Medford. Following the parade until 6PM - trick or treating in the city of Medford.

Looking for a fun way to spend Halloween in Vilas County, the heart of Wisconsin's northwoods lake country? The Manitowish Waters area is the ideal spot to "get away from it all." Your whole family will enjoy this annual holiday carnival with a Kiddie Costume Parade, a gymnasium full of games with prizes, food, refreshments and raffles! Celebrating 37 years of Kornstalk in 2008! Held at North Lakeland Elementary School, 12686 County Hwy. K(corner of Hwys. K & P). Event starts at 5:00PM and ends at 8:00PM. Sponsored by the Parent-Teacher Club as a safe, Halloween activity for the whole family. Tickets sold at the door to play games and purchase food.

Halloween Ghost Stories by Candlelight |

Let's talk ghosts! The Octagon House has been haunted for over a century, but on Halloween they'll tell you about it! Explore this Civil War home by candlelight, escape through secret passageways and the underground tunnel. Featured on the History Channel's "Secret Passages." For an added treat dress up in Halloween costumes! Limited seating available. Historic Octagon House, 276 Linden Street, Fond du Lac. Tour starts at 7PM. Spook O' Rama Costume Contest |

Annual Costume Contest! $2,700 in prizes for best costumes. You could win in one of several categories: Best Costume Overall-Male, Best Costume Overall-Female, Scariest and Best Duo or Group. All guests arriving in full costume on between 7:00PM and 8:30PM will receive a $5 Gift Certificate. The doors will open at 7PM and the judging takes place at 9PM. 1940s Style Vintage Hangar Dance and Dinner |

November 1st, 2008 Sheboygan Falls
Step back in time and experience a 1940s style dinner, followed by a quick dance lesson and USO-style entertainment. Bob Hope(as portrayed by Lynn Roberts) and the 20-piece band Jazz Express will entertain. 1940s period attire is encouraged, but not mandatory. Space is limited, so call the Aviation Heritage Center soon to get your tickets. The AHC is a unique environment where visitors experience the world of aviation, from educational and community programs and events, to an aviation museum, library and laboratory. Proceeds will be used for educational programs, exhibits and operations. N6191 Resource Drive. 5-11PM.
