August 9th & 10th, 2008 Iola
Jeeps, trucks & command cars, plus antique professional vehicles, tractors, trucks & engines on display. Remote-controlled airplane show. Battle re-enactment, living history encampment, swap meet, parade of vehicles and equipment. A 'USO' Type Show is being planned for the 17th Annual Iola Vintage Military Show with Vintage Tractors and Equipment weekend. The show is scheduled for Saturday night, August 9 at 6 pm with a special dinner being planned prior to that. This high energy, family-oriented show will feature the Chicago Honey Bear Dancers. August 9th, 2008 in Bayfield
Participants will swim 2 miles along the path of the ice road, from the Washington Avenue beach in Bayfield to Griggs Point on Madeline Island. There is a race event for experienced open water swimmers, plus a community swim. Community swimmers will be required to have a wetsuit and arrange for their own personal escort boat, either kayak, rowboat or small vessel. Relay teams of 2-4 can swim in a loose relay format where they can switch in and out of the water from an escort boat. Kayakers and boaters are needed as escorts to swimmers. Sponsorships and pledges are welcome. Bayfield Recreation Center. Event starts at 6:00AM and ends at 10:00AM.

August 15th thru 17th, 2008 Baraboo
Wisconsin's largest display of early American steam-powered and gas-powered equipment. Food, flea market, arts & crafts, and entertainment. This year's theme is "Endless Tracks." Many manufacturers of farm and construction equipment offered machinery that ran on tracks instead of wheels, and the BS&G Club will take a closer look at these unique machines and learn how they laid endless tracks. August 15th thru 17th, 2008 St. Croix Falls
Fabulous weekend of blues, rock, country and bluegrass. Friday : Free dance lessons 7PM. Salsabrosa - the hottest Latin band in the Twin Cities(8PM)! All aboard for a trip back in time to an era when trains provided the main source of transportation for both people and goods. The day will feature activities and displays related to railroading. Visit the Stonefield depot, hop up into the Stonefield caboose, view model railroading trains, and stop by the "End of the Line" hobo camp, where samples of mulligan stew will be available.
