Visit a large buck-skinner's rendezvous encampment with hawk & knife toss, other frivolities, and historic demonstrations. Also, western stunt performances, pony rides, kids face painting, a knickknacks & artifacts tent, music, bake sale, food, and refreshments. This year features professional stunt performers from the Whips Garters and Guns western stunt shows. Performances include; train station holdup, shooting demonstration, Bull Whip demonstration, movie effects, and more. 900 Montgomery Street, 10AM-4PM.

Benefiting the Bread of Life food pantry, the FREE concert will feature eight prominent regional acts, including Ellen Whyte, Cool Disposition, Left Wing Bourbon, Mojo Lemon, Catya's Trio, and the Love Buzzards. Music will continue afterward at several different venues in town, all hosting live bands. No cover charge will be taken at any location, but please bring a non-perishable food donation(official sponsorships are available for $25 and up)."Blues on the Chippewa is a chance for a lot of us to do a little something for the community," say organizers, "and we hope to use the event on behalf of other worthy causes in years to come." Iola Vintage Military Show with Old Working Wheels |

Jeeps, trucks & command cars, plus antique professional vehicles, tractors, trucks & engines on display. Remote-controlled airplane show. Battle re-enactment, living history encampment, swap meet, parade of vehicles and equipment. A 'USO' Type Show is being planned for the 17th Annual Iola Vintage Military Show with Vintage Tractors and Equipment weekend. The show is scheduled for Saturday night, August 9 at 6 pm with a special dinner being planned prior to that. This high energy, family-oriented show will feature the Chicago Honey Bear Dancers. Camping available. Iola Old Car Show Grounds. Event starts at 8AM.

Pointe to LaPointe Swim |

August 9th, 2008 in Bayfield
Participants will swim 2 miles along the path of the ice road, from the Washington Avenue beach in Bayfield to Griggs Point on Madeline Island. There is a race event for experienced open water swimmers, plus a community swim. Community swimmers will be required to have a wetsuit and arrange for their own personal escort boat, either kayak, rowboat or small vessel. Relay teams of 2-4 can swim in a loose relay format where they can switch in and out of the water from an escort boat. Kayakers and boaters are needed as escorts to swimmers. Sponsorships and pledges are welcome. Bayfield Recreation Center. Event starts at 6:00AM and ends at 10:00AM.
