Explore the wonders of birding during peak warbler migration as Great Lakes area experts lead trips and workshops aimed at improving birding skills, knowledge, conservation and habitat measures. Previous guests have included Laura Erickson, Dr. Charles Kemper, and Dr. Stanley Temple. Birders of all levels are welcome, including children. America's largest celebration of Norwegian Constitution Day. Two parades, folk dancing, rosemaling, hardanger and quilt exhibits, ethnic food, arts & crafts fair, Syttende Mai Run, Norwegian (bunad) style show, and an Ugliest Troll Drawing contest. Other features include Village Player performances, street dances, Viking encampment, a canoe race, 17-mile Walk, a sailboat race on Lake Kegonsa, and local food stands everywhere! The festival honors the tasty mushroom - enjoy it fried, or you can purchase some to take home and enjoy later. Mushroom Contest: Biggest, smallest, most unique, most in cluster. Also a City Track Meet open to the public, Horseshoe Tournament, 2nd annual Morel Mushroom 7's Rugby Tournament and more. Saturday night: Fireman's annual steak feed followed by fireworks.
