RISING GAEL: 5 years ago high school friends from neighboring communities Evansville, Oregon and Verona wanted a way to share their passion for both music and Irish culture. Rising Gael is what emerged from this enthusiasm. Also appearing, EIDIR: Irish Airs with a World Beat. Eidir means Between. Derek Byrne: vocals and banjo. Tom Anderson: a music educator for over 20 years, on a variety of percussion. Original Irish music, gaelic chanting and ancient Irish favorites. Stoughton Opera House, 381 East Main Street.

In Concert: CARA and St Patrick's Parade

March 14th & 15th, 2008 La Crosse
Friday night concert with the Irish group CARA at 7:30PM at the Cartwright Center, UW La Crosse campus. Then at noon Saturday, the St' Pat's parade steps off heading down Main Street in downtown La Crosse, rain, shine, or snow! Post parade social at Forest Hills featuring a free beverage(while it lasts) and available Irish fare of corned beef sandwiches, Irish stew, and fish and chips. Door prizes and family fun. Also, at 6PM the Annual Shamrock Club Dinner will take place at Cedar Creek Golf Club in Onalaska.

 

St. Urho / St. Patrick's Day Celebration

The Irish and the Finns celebrate together beginning with a 4:30-6:30PM dinner of corned beef, cabbage & all the fixings, followed by a 7PM program. St. Urho Day is a Finnish-American holiday on March 16 based on a story that before the ice age Finland was full of vineyards that became infested with grasshoppers (or frogs). St. Urho, using a large pitchfork and casting a magic spell, chased them all away, which is why today there are no grasshoppers in Finland. Sponsored by the Knox Creek Heritage Center. St. Patrick's Day Parade in Sturgeon Bay

Sturgeon Bay will be decked out in green on this day of leprechauns, pots o'gold, clover and the luck of the IRISH! Everyone turns Irish for a day and Door County becomes County Door with a festive parade thru downtown at 11AM. Adding to the festivities, look for local establishments to have green fare during the evening. The parade marches along Madison Avenue - Michigan Street - Jefferson Street. Come early for best viewing spots. Event starts at 11:00AM and ends at 12:30PM. Downtown Sturgeon Bay.

Manitowoc - St. Patrick's Day Celebration

Featuring a Great Green Treasure Hunt throughout the downtown area - put the clues together to find the secret hiding place of local radio icon Bob Irish and win CA$H prizes! Then a parade with area groups, music, floats and fireworks over the harbor. Parade starts on the corner of Washington and South 8th Street, with fireworks to follow near the Maritime Museum at dusk. Participating businesses will be offering "Saving of the Green" specials you won't want to miss all weekend, along with fun and the celebration into the "wee" hours! Downtown Manitowoc.

St. Patrick's Day Parade & Irish Fest

A Grand Parade and Irish Fest are held on Saturday of a weeklong celebration, beginning with Leprechauns changing the name of the town to New Dublin for the week. The parade includes marching & bagpipe bands, and clan & business floats - 125 units last year. Bring the whole family. Irish Fest is held 11AM-6PM under a huge heated big top and features live Irish music, Irish food, beverages, entertainment, and market booths. This year, Rising Gael will play from from 11AM to 1PM and Green Tea from 3 to 6PM. Downtown New London.

Come enjoy the celebration of the green, along with the historic ambiance of Prairie du Chien. The parade route follows along the beautiful historic downtown river district. Plymouth - Irishman's Walk and Parade

A celebration of St. Patrick's Day. Parade starts at 10:30AM traveling through downtown, ending at 52 Stafford, an Irish inn and guest house. All are invited to wear their best green and walk with the Irishmen! Irishman's Walk begins at 11AM. Gather at Family Video (1610 Eastern Avenue) and the parade will commence to 52 Stafford. Restaurant opens at 11AM. Stick around for some tasty Irish specialty food and a frothy pint. Live music includes Poor Man's Labor from 1-3PM and Maggies Misfortune from 5-9PM.
