3rd Annual US Adult Pond Hockey Championship |

February 15th thru 17th, 2008 Eagle River
Pond Hockey is alive and well and living in the Wisconsin north woods. This unique championship will feature over 100 teams, 18 rinks, 3,000 pucks, 9 divisions and 1 frozen pond. Players gather to play hockey the way it was meant to be played - on the frozen pond. "We strive for quality hockey and a great social experience on and off the ice – that’s what it is all about." said Ashley Bevan, Director of Adult Hockey. Sanctioned by USA Hockey and sponsored by Labatt Blue. Great family fun. Concession stand and heated tented area. Free admission. Chanticleer Inn, 1458 East Dollar Lake Road.

Mid-Continent Railway Snow Train |

February 15th thru 17th, 2008 North Freedom
Mid-Continent's oldest special event. Wintertime railroading is a unique experience one will never forget. Travel through the winter wonderland of the scenic Baraboo Hills on our 33rd annual Snow Train. All cars are kept comfortably warm using the 100-yr-old tradition of steam heating. 50-minute ride offering both coach and first class service during the day; dinner service Friday and Saturday evening at 6:30. Book Across the Bay Cross-Country Ski Race |

February 16th, 2008 Ashland
Book Across the Bay is the upper Midwest's most unique winter event, open to skiers and snowshoers of all ages and ability levels. The 10-kilometer course, which is groomed for both classic-style and skate skiing, starts in Ashland and ends in Washburn, and follows a route not on land, but over the frozen surface of Lake Superior, the world's largest lake. The event is held at night, and the course is lit by the stars above and up to 1,000 candles in ice luminaries that line the entire route. Event starts at 6:00PM.

35th American Birkebeiner Cross-Country Ski Marathon |

February 21st thru 23rd, 2008 Hayward
The largest and most prestigious cross country ski marathon in North America. The Birkie is part of the Worldloppet series of 14 international races, part of the American Ski Marathon series of 14 races, and part of the lives of citizen skiers from around the world. Skiers of all ages, genders and nationalities participate in the 51K Birkebeiner, the 23K Kortelopet, the children's Barnebirkie, Junior Birkie, Elite Sprints, Family Fun Ski and Citizen Sprints. While 7,000 skiers set their sights on the Birkebeiner and Kortelopet, another 2,500 are bound for the shorter races and events that dominate the three-day event. 10527 Main Street.

Bald Eagle Appreciation Day |

Held on the grounds of the Wisconsin Welcome Center/Prairie du Chien Chamber, 211 South Main in Prairie du Chien, and co-host site AmericInn. Live Bald Eagle programs (eagle from the National Eagle Center in Wabasha, Minn.); exhibits and presentations on eagles and raptors, birding experts on hand, outdoor viewing of Bald Eagles through spotting scopes, life-size Bald Eagle nest, activities for children, mini field trips to other viewing locations, refreshments. Co-sponsored by Effigy Mounds National Monument and the Prairie du Chien C of C. 9AM-3PM.

Polar Plunges for Special Olympics |

The Polar Plunge is a unique opportunity for individuals, organizations, and businesses to support local Special Olympics athletes by jumping or slowly crawling into the frigid and icy waters of Wisconsin. Since its inception ten years ago Wisconsinites have helped raise nearly $6 million by taking the Plunge. If you're too chicken to make the splash, show your support by making a pledge to a braver soul. This year there are ten Plunges statewide to choose from. Special Olympics was founded on the belief that all individuals with cognitive disabilities can benefit from sports. The Polar Plunge helps subsidize costs needed to support the athletes.

Based on the memoirs of burlesque queen, Gypsy Rose Lee, and her aggressive stage mother, Mama Rose. GYPSY boasts more show stopping tunes than ten other musicals. Performances on: Thursday, Feb 28 at 6:30PM; Friday, Feb 29 at 7:30PM; Saturday, Mar 1 at 2:00PM & 7:30PM; and Sunday, Mar 2 at 2:00PM. Cancer Crusher Cruise Benefit Snowmobile Ride |

February 29th thru March 2nd, 2008 Mountain
All snowmobilers are welcome to help raise money to help out two club members recently diagnosed with cancer. There will be an appetizer buffet at Everbreeze Resort(Chute Pond) Friday from 6-9PM, a chili feed at Doze Inn Saturday 11AM-2PM, and a spaghetti feed and raffles at Vollmara's Trailside(Suring) Saturday 4-9PM. All riders receive two commemorative ride stickers. Riders who raise $100 or more receive a long sleeve T-shirt with the ride logo. Grand prize for top donation raiser is a Garmin Nuvi 200 GPS unit. Sponsored by Chute Pond Snowmobile Club.
