So....where has the summer gone? Even though we are sneaking up on Labor Day and the traditional end of summer, there are still many wonderful ways to celebrate this weekend in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin State Cow Chip Throw & Art Fair |

August 31 thru September 01, 2007 Prairie du Sac
This is one of Wisconsin's fastest-growing and most unique local festivals, drawing people from all over the world. Don't miss "Cowabunga" the Trojan Cow. At 13'6" tall, she has a head that moves from side to side and carries a belly full of children, who dispense T-shirts and cow chips. Friday: Live music and Sauk Prairie Area Corporate Cow Chip Throw Challenge at 7PM. Saturday: Cow Chip Classic Run 8:00AM(5K, 10K), Arts & Crafts Fair 9AM - 5PM, Children's Chip Chuckin' 9AM - Noon, Tournament of Chips Parade at Noon, Wisconsin State Cow Chip Throw 2PM, food court all day by area service groups. Wilhelm Tell Festival in New Glarus |

August 31 thru September 02, 2007 New Glarus
Share with your family the story of Swiss independence, written by German playwright Friedrich Schiller. It's a live theater presentation with intricate costumes and a lively cast that includes goats, cows and horses. More than 200 local volunteers make each colorful performance come to life. Shows are in a beautiful outdoor setting, just a short distance from downtown New Glarus. Saturday: German presentation at 10AM, English presentation at 2PM. Sunday's English presentation at 1PM. Also Swiss music, a yodeling contest, art fair in the park(Sun 9AM-4PM), a Swiss fashion show and children's lantern parade(Friday 8PM). Tell Grounds on Hwy. W.

158th Walworth County Fair |

From its beginning in 1850, the Walworth County Fair has been one of the leading county fairs in the Midwest. Livestock judging, exhibits, carnival rides, concessions, harness racing, tractor and truck pulls, demolition derby(Monday at 1:45, 4:30 & 7:00PM), and free grandstand shows - Mel Tillis, The Beach Boys, LeAnn Rimes and Phil Vassar. "Senior Day" is Thursday, August 30th: Seniors ages 65 and over, as well as handicapped people are admitted for just $2.00. Walworth County Fairgrounds, 411 East Court Street, Hwy 11.

Clown, a Wrist Wrestling competition, 4-H Food Auction, 4-H Style Show, and various grandstand entertainments. Bands include: Chasin' Mason, Brandon James Band, KNX, Steve Novotney, Half Empty, Newtonburg Brass Band, and Nashville Pipeline Band. The Offical Portage County Fair. Midway thrills, concessions, animal market sale, music, stage shows (Sat & Sun), Labor Day Run, demolition derby (Mon 1PM), bingo and parade (Sat noon). A rural delight in the "fairgrounds amid the pines." Rides by Christman Amusements. Rosholt Fair Park.
