Messy Fest is a kids festival that lets kids do everything mom and dad won't let them do at home, but they can do it here! Wear your old clothes, because this event is going to be messy! Paint with your feet or foot stomp a picture, construct whip cream pictures and scenes, apply body tattoos/art, splash with water tubs and toys, do finger painting and stamping, make sandy candy art, ride slip 'n slides, and more. Annual fundraising event organized by the Superior Rotary Club and Duluth's Harbortown Rotary Club. The race is held in the Superior Bay off Barkers Island in Superior and includes a traditional dragon boat race as well as a host of other exciting and entertaining festivities. Check out some of the many kinds of frogs and learn about the lives and habits of these amazing amphibians. Next to the Nature Center Building is Jason's Pond, where the group will take nets out and do some "froggin". Hikers can follow the boardwalk out to the marsh overlook to view wildlife or stroll Behnke Prairie, which contains a restored wildflower prairie containing over fifty species such as compassplant, rosinweed, prairie dock, yellow coneflower, purple prairie clover, prairie blazingstar, and many more.
