The League of American Bicyclists is promoting Bike-to-Work Week from May 14-18 and Bike-to-Work Day on Friday, May 18. Visit their site for tips to see what Bike Month events are going on in your community. We've picked a few cycling events from around the state that you may or may not have heard about before, and we'll see you Biking Around Wisconsin!

Rock 50/50 Bike Tour

The Rock Trail Coalition will again host its Rock 50/50 Bike Tour. There will be all new routes this year! Routes are well-marked and mapped on low-traffic country roads. Rest stops are provided at Sweet-Allyn and Carver-Roehl county parks. Free lunch follows the tour at Palmer Park. Registration from 8AM-9AM. Participants are encouraged to carry a water bottle, appropriate weather gear, and wear a helmet. All proceeds go to further develop trails.

This is an at-your-own pace road ride through beautiful Calumet County. Riders choose from 15, 30 or 62 mile marked routes which begin and end at the Calumet County Park pavilion. Each participant will receive a detailed map of the course. Registration is between 9-10AM, departing by 10:15 AM and returning by 2:30PM. Use of helmets by all riders is strictly enforced! All distances have rest stop support with water and food. Afterward at the pavilion: a pasta meal, dessert, and soda or beer (21 and over with ID) will be your reward! All proceeds benefit the Fox Cities Triathlon Club and the Fox Cities Greenways initiatives.

The Brute Single-Day Road Ride

Helmets & Waiver Agreement required. Two routes: the 100K route will climb 7,000 feet and the 200K route will climb 12,000 feet. This pleasure cruise will follow multiple ridgelines and twist through scenic valleys dotted with farms. The slopes on some of the hills are real brutes and will surprise even the strongest riders. Each route is marked, sagged and supported with rest stops. Post ride showers are available from 10AM to 6:45 PM. The post ride dinner will be available until ...? (Riders will not be sent away hungry!) The Alma Lions Club will provide volunteers to help run this year's event.

The Cable Area Off-Road Classic consists of two point to point mountain bike races in and around the Chequamegon National Forest and Sawyer and Bayfield County Forests including some of the famous CAMBA trails. Take the Challenge! Experience 1500 feet of climbing elevation over 25 miles of rolling hills in the scenic Rib River valley. Wisport sanctions road races and time trials which are all OPEN Events, meaning that a racing license is not required. Each event has its own features, and its own character, but all offer awards based on age groups and gender, and Wisport awards points for each rider based on race performance. Directions From Wausau: take Hwy 29 west 13 miles to Hwy S. Turn north (right) on Hwy S, 3 miles to Rib Falls.

Tour de Cure is a series of cycling events held in more than 80 cities nationwide to benefit the American Diabetes Association. The Tour is a ride, not a race, with routes designed for everyone from the occasional rider to the experienced cyclist. Whether you ride 10 miles or 100 miles, you'll travel a route supported from start to finish with rest stops, food, and fans to cheer you on! Two separate single-day rides.
